My passion for IT started in high school, where I followed my older brother around as he worked on computers—back when 486 and Pentium 1 processors were cutting-edge. Watching him troubleshoot, build systems, and breathe life into machines sparked something in me.
That spark became my first job: an IT technician repairing hardware, reinstalling operating systems, and handling on-site callouts. It was hands-on, practical work—but it was a chance software testing role a few years later that changed the direction of my career and sparked a curiosity for programming I couldn't shake.
Over the next several years, I built a career as a Test Analyst—testing payment and gift card systems for a major retail group, running integration testing on enterprise data platforms, and eventually earning a permanent role at an automation-focused tech company, where I still work today. Every project taught me the same lesson from a different angle: real quality isn't found by accident. It's tested for, deliberately, every time.
The whole time, I was teaching myself to code on the side—nights and weekends spent learning Python, Flask, and web development, just to see if I could build the things I was testing. Eventually I could, and Empath Technology Solutions was the result: a business built on a QA engineer's instinct for what breaks, paired with a self-taught developer's drive to fix it—for the small businesses and individuals who need dependable tech support without an enterprise budget.
I earned my CompTIA A+ certification through Boston City Campus, and have since built a career that spans desktop support, server maintenance, software testing, and quality assurance.
